The periodic table is a chart that organizes all known elements based on their properties. It was first developed by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869 and has become one of the most important tools in chemistry. The table arranges elements by their atomic number (the number of protons in an atom) and groups them based on similarities in their chemical behavior.
